New Threads

I'm not going to lie, I really needed an eyebrow wax and tint. My eyebrows aren't too unruly, however, they are very blonde and there were a few stragglers that needed taken care of. They looked like the eyebrows of an albino. And with my fair celtic skin and dark (from a bottle) locks, it needed to change. I've been looking into threading for a while as an alternative to waxing and was really interested to give it a go. So off I went to Millies Fresh and Organic In Leeds , which is a pretty little store compromising of health food, hampers, vitamins, sports supplements, organic and cruelty free make-up, a deli (which won Leeds Guide best take-away 2009!) and then upstairs a lovely little beauty room.

I'm very particular about how my eyebrows are done, living in Leeds for just over 4 years I've liked only one place and that's Glow beauty spa, I've been to other places and just never been happy. I'm sure it's not just me that feels this way, you want a good professional service by someone who knows what they are doing and likes what they do as well. I once went to a place and the girl was saying "oh I hate my job, I just can't be bothered" as she was applying the wax... needless to say that didn't fill me with confidence and I never went back. There was also another time where the girl obviously didn't know what she was doing and wasn't going to take the tint off before she stuck the wax on, until I said " uhhh, the tint is still on" and she just laughed and went "ooooh, yeah!!! silly me" and when I looked in the mirror afterwards I had to tell her that she still hadn't taken all of it off properly!! I didn't go back there either.

Anyway, I digress, I was laid on the bed feeling quite nervous at my first threading experience.. The girl, I'm sure her name is Emma, reassured me that she was an expert in threading and I was in good hands. Well, she wasn't wrong! She got me to close my eyes and did the tint first as usual then got me to hold down my eyelid with one hand and place the other hand above my eyebrow and pull the skin taut so it looked a little like this

Then the treading began, it's hard to say what it feels like... not a sore as waxing but not quite like plucking either. It does take a little longer than waxing but not by much ANNNNNNNND it doesn't leave you as red or as sore as waxing regularly leaves me. Threading also doesn't remove a layer of skin along with the hair which means you can go straight from the beauticians to the beer garden and sit in the sun (which wouldn't be advised the first 24 hours after a wax) p.s no one will be able to tell that us girls have to get the middle bit done as well because it doesn't go red and there are no tell tale signs - huge success!!

All in all I have found my new favorite place to get my beauty treatments and threading will also take over from waxing from now on, I'm throughly impressed!

Have a great Easter and eat lots'o eggs!

Matcha Madness: The Body Shop Matcha Tea Face Mask Review

My name is Bex and I am a mask addict! I love masks. Cream, clay, mud, peeling, sheet, cellulose, nourishing... you name it and I love it! I recently spent an evening with the amazing staff from The Body Shop Belfast learning about all their key products and celebrating their cruelty free status and at the end of the night I was very kindly gifted their Japanese Matcha Tea pollution clearing mask - I was delighted!  We all know that the world has gone Matcha crazy but beyond an occasional frappe from a well known coffee house my main experiences have been with Matcha flavour cakes from my local asian supermarket. They are seriously amazing and the lightest sponge I've ever eaten but it doesn't exactly scream "good for you". Thankfully, apart from being seriously tasty Matcha is ridiculously good for you. Traditionally brewed as a simple green tea it is packed full of antioxidants - 10 times the amount in normal green teas as you are consuming the precious groun

Ophrys Skincare

If you have been following my blogs and social media you will have seen that I am currently partnering with Therapie Clinics and trying out their range of specialist facials to try and improve my skin. Alongside the facials (my second of which is coming up in April!) I have really tried to up my game with my skin care. Rather than just slapping everything that says hydration on I am really trying to target specific areas and problems. This has not been without it's troubles as my sensitive skin tries to adjust to this higher level of care. As a result of this - and a few other internal factors - I have been experiencing a few more breakouts than normal but I have been coping with them better. It's all about the give and take. And when it comes to the 'give' I was very lucky to be approached by Ophrys Skincare to talk about their new range of low molecular hyaluronic skincare with their patented Mini-Hax particle. "Low Ma-what?" I hear you say? Well... Low
